The family tree is now 18 generations deep. The first recorded Jauert was born circa 1460 in Leussow, Mecklenburg, Germany. From these early beginnings we can follow the family lineage to their present day locations of Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, New York, Denmark and of course Mecklenburg and the rest of Germany.

(Ger. of Slavic origin): Topographic name for someone who lived by a
maple or sycamore tree, from Pol. jawor - a maple or sycamore tree. From
Dictionary of Surnames, 1988 Patrick Hanks and Floria Hodges. SPELLING: Today there are no spelling variations for Jauert. An -en was added in the old German Church records to indicate a female, i.e.. Jauerten. The names Iavers and Iavert were used on the Taufshale made in 1656.
